RSD#38 (Richmond) Partners with UBC for an Inquiry Based Project with Student Teachers

This year, student teachers from UBC will be integrating Social Studies methodology courses with Aboriginal education to create inquiry based units for their classroom.

The course will take place at Hamilton elementary school where teaching can be practiced with real elementary students and where professional teachers will offer feedback and course related instruction.

The course will culminate with inquiry into major educational issues, including Aboriginal education, contextualized within a Project Plan that could be used on the long practicum in the spring. We will use a project based approach with an "Enactivist" focus. Rather than creating a standard unit plan, CITE students will develop a high interest project in which many disciplines can be naturally and meaningfully incorporated.
